Who are you and where do you originate from?

We are Aidan Bradley (keyboard and vocals), Jason Savory (guitar and backing vocals), myself Lewis Dallimore (bass and backing vocals) and Gavin Vella (drums and backing vocals). We are based in Pontypool, Newport, Cwmbran and Blackwood. We all study creative sound and music at Newport University, so Newport has become the band’s home town since we practice and gig there a lot.

How did you get into playing music?

We all have very different musical backgrounds and we’ve all been playing so long it’s hard to pinpoint any particular thing that got us into playing music. Personally I liked a lot of old hip hop with a good funk foundation. So for me when friends were starting bands and I had to decide an instrument bass was the logical choice.

Do you write your own material?

We write all our own material.

Normally starts with Jason having a chord progression, then we develop the song from that, bouncing concepts off each other and trying to make our music as interesting musically as possible without losing what makes the song listenable and catchy.

How would you describe your style of music?

Its very weird, like I’ve previously said we all have different musical backgrounds and we bring all of this into our music.

There are elements of musical theatre, metal, jazz, funk, acoustic, progressive music, etc. There is a lot of focus on vocal harmonies as all four of us sing, and we try to incorporate this as much as possible because not many bands do this. So I think the way I would categorise our style is vocally fronted progressive rock.

What’s your best live experience so far?

We’ve had so many it’s hard to choose.

Recently we’ve had some great gigs, we really enjoyed playing the Louisiana in Bristol just because the sound was amazing and on the weekend we played the Rock Olympics in Six Feet Under, which Aidan was hosting, with the South Wales Music Collective. This was an amazing experience because we had the opportunity to play with so many bands that we love and we had the chance to hang out with all our friends.

What are you working on at the moment?

We are always trying to take our music to the next level and trying to improve ourselves musically. We are also recording and working on making all of our music the best it can be for live performance.

Where can we catch you live?

We are constantly gigging somewhere local all of our upcoming gigs are listed on our band website theventureuk.com or the band Facebook, facebook.com/TheVentureUK We are also involved in the South Wales Music Collective, who are providing a lot of gigs for us and other bands in the area, at facebook.com/ SouthWalesMusicCollective
