The Absolutely Fabulous film finally looks set to go ahead in 2015, after Jennifer Saunders revealed she has at last completed the script.

The funnywoman is now hoping that the big-screen adaptation, titled Edina And Patsy, will be made by the end of the year.

“I’ve finished the first draft. I’m feeling euphoric. My proper New Year’s resolution is to do the film, otherwise it’ll be a pointless year of procrastination,” she told the Sunday People.

Created by Jennifer and Dawn French, Absolutely Fabulous stars Jennifer as booze-loving party animal Edina Monsoon.

The BBC sitcom also starred Joanna Lumley as her best friend Patsy Stone and Julia Sawalha as her long-suffering daughter Saffron ‘Saffy’, along with June Whitfield and Jane Horrocks. All the cast are set to reprise their roles for the movie.

The show, which originally ran for three series between 1992 to 1996, was revived for two more seasons in 2001. It later returned for three one-hour specials to mark the show’s 20th anniversary – which were broadcast on Christmas Day 2011, New Year’s Day 2012 and July 2012.

Jennifer also joked she would like to see Angelina Jolie take over from her co-star Joanna as Patsy and an orangutan playing her part.

“That would be funny, Angelina Jolie and an orangutan,” she quipped.
