The father and daughter behind the world-famous Glastonbury festival have had “many discussions” about relocating the most popular music event in the UK.

But while founder Michael Eavis is keen for “one last risk”, his daughter and co-organiser Emily is more reluctant to see the Worthy Farm event change.

There are just days left to transform the West Country site in to a music venue capable of hosting a population the size of Oxford.

From Wednesday 135,000 ticket holders will pour through the gates and set up camp ready to see headliners Kanye West, The Who and recently promoted Florence and the Machine.

Emily Eavis said her father wants to take “one last risk” by relocating the event but admitted she is undecided.

She said: “Michael would quite like the idea of doing it somewhere else. I don’t know. We’ve had lots of discussion about it and he’s quite keen on it.

“Part of me thinks, maybe we should try it. But then another part of me thinks Worthy Farm is the home of it and I love it here. So I don’t know it.

“He said to me, ‘one last risk’,” she joked.

“It’s too early to say when. It’s certainly too late to do it this year.”

Around a third of the festival site has so far been erected, including three mobile base stations by the event’s technology and communications partner EE, who are expecting 200,000 power bar swaps this year compared with the 32,000 last year.

Foo Fighters

Emily said she was “absolutely gutted” that the Foo Fighters were forced to pull out of headlining opening night after Dave Grohl broke his leg, but added that she was excited for Florence And The Machine to “have their moment”.

The mother-of-two revealed earlier this year how she was subject to online abuse including death threats when she booked the controversial artist Kanye West, who will play on the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday.

Talking of the abuse today, she said: “All of this, we have had this every year since I can remember, scrutiny, speculation and now since Twitter people are trolled all the time. I don’t let it get to me.

Kanye West

“Kanye knows about it, a lot of people have probably told him about it and he has the right attitude. He’s not worried about it. He is so fired up for this gig, his plans are really exciting.”

It is not known if Kanye’s pregnant wife Kim Kardashian will attend the festival with their daughter North or with any of her four famous sisters.

Asked about the Kardashian clan turning up on Worthy Farm, Emily said: “Yeah, I’m looking forward to it, I’m not sure who’s coming yet. I don’t know what the plan is.”
