Tom Hanks has been bolstering his reputation as the nicest guy in Hollywood, this time by crashing a couple’s wedding photos.

Captain Phillips star Tom, 60, just happened to be passing through New York’s Central Park as the newlyweds were having some snaps taken of their special day, and they got an extra few memories for the album when the film star posed with them.

Looking like he’d been out enjoying a run, Tom just had to stop to offer his congratulations to the lucky couple, whose photographer captured the moment.

She wrote: “Yesterday’s wedding was so beautiful! Elisabeth and Ryan you planned one amazing celebration. The icing on the cake was @tomhanks stopping in Central Park to wish them congratulations.”

Tom even took a selfie of the moment and posted it to his own Instagram account, writing: “Elizabeth and Ryan! Congrats and blessings! Hanx.”

It isn’t the first time he’s made a bride’s day – in 1993 while filming Forrest Gump, he spotted a woman about to go into a church to get married and gave her a hug and a kiss.

These were the days before social media, so she sent Tom some of her wedding snaps and he returned one in the post, signing it: “Congratulations! The only bride more beautiful was the one I married…I’m just sorry I missed the ceremony! God Bless, Tom Hanks.”

And in 2012 he posed with a fan in a Hollywood bar who pretended to be drunk, sparking a Reddit thread where people shared their stories of what a nice guy Tom was when they met him.

Tom isn’t the only star to have photobombed a wedding – Beyonce and Taylor Swift have both appeared in photos of couples who just happened to be in the right place at the right time, too.
