Kevin McKidd revealed he said yes to starring in new Pixar movie Brave before he even knew it was set in Scotland.

The Scottish star of Grey's Anatomy voices the role of Lord MacGuffin in the 3D animated Scottish fairytale co-starring Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly and Robbie Coltrane. But he revealed at the Los Angeles premiere of the film that he was so excited to be asked to voice a Pixar movie, he said yes without even knowing it would be set in his homeland.

Kevin said: "When I got a phonecall from Pixar sayng 'We would like you to be in a Pixar film' I said yes before they even finished the sentence.

"Then I found out it's a film about Scotland and I'm so proud to be from Scotland so it felt like a double compliment to me. It's very exciting."

Kelly voices Princess Merida in the film, which also stars Julie Walters and Emma Thompson.

Kelly said: "Merida is an adventurous tomboy teenager and a very happy young woman. And the spell is broken when her mother says she has to get married and take on some adult responsibility, and that's when she takes things into her own hands and kind of makes a mess of everything."
