Noel Edmonds is in talks for a potential to return to BBC One for a Saturday entertainment show.

The host of Channel 4's Deal Or No Deal is in discussions to host a programme which could replace Total Wipeout.

Noel was was once a Saturday night staple with his long-running Noel's House Party series until it was axed in 1999.

A source confirmed he was in line to present a pilot version of planned show The Bodyguard in which contestants take part in a number of challenges. The pilot, to be filmed over the summer, is not due for transmission.

Noel, 63, largely disappeared from mainstream TV after the cancellation of his House Party series but made a comeback in 2005 when C4 booked him for Deal Or No Deal. He has also hosted Sky's Are You Smarter Than A Ten Year Old? and made a one-off BBC appearance when he hosted a National Lottery show.

As long as London Weekend don't follow suit and bring back Barrymore. My tv will be staying off on a Saturday. Never liked swap shop and never liked the late late breakfast show.

I have not yet forgiven Mr Edmonds for not swapping my spirograph for an ipad on multicoloured swapshop.
Has any one else noticed that anything that contains the term'multi' is rubbish.
