THOUSANDS of visitors are expected to attend a two-day festival, held in memory of an Abergavenny soldier, over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Welsh Warrior Festival, held in Bailey Park, raises money for The Richard Hunt Foundation- a charity set up in memory of Private Richard hunt.

Pte Hunt, 21, from Abergavenny, was fatally injured whilst serving in Afghanistan and died in August 2009.

Nowin its third year, the festival features a rock/pop festival day and a family fun day.OnSaturday acts include the Electric Soul Band, Rusty Shackle, Ten Foot Small and headliners 4th Street Traffic.

OnSunday there will be children’s entertainment fromUpsy Daisy, Iggle Piggle and FiremanSamwith music fromAbergavenny’sown Elvis impersonator Keith Davies and his Memphis Mafia,XFactor starRhydian Roberts, Annalise, Beaufort Male Voice Choir and The Soul Sisters.

The Richard Hunt Foundation provides grants for items such as specialised equipment or short breaks and to send bereavement funds to families.

The event takes place on August 25 and 26 from11am.

Tickets cost £5 a day for adults or £8 for a weekend ticket. Under 16s/OAPs cost £3.50 per day or £5 for the weekend, children go free. Tickets are available from the Borough Theatre in Abergavenny on 01873 850805.
