Ever gone out for a meal and wondered about the people who are serving you? Why they look at you in that way or maybe look at another member of staff with an element of envy or contempt?

Well wonder no more as Circus Theatre Company, Crashmat Collective open the doors to their restaurant Claude’s and bring the audience in for a fully interactive experience that blurs the edges of the relationship between theatregoer and performance artist.

Once welcomed by restaurant proprietor Claude (George Fuller) you are shown to your seat and gradually introduced to various members of the restaurant staff who appear rather normal at first, until you begin to hear their innermost thoughts, not just about people sitting at the tables but also bout other members of staff.

There’s Claude’s daughter Libby (Gemma Creasey) envious to a point of manager Brice (Kevin McIntosh) and eager to prove herself in the restaurant business. Rose (Alice Ellerby) on the other hand is discovering her own sexuality while Jolene (Anna Sandreuter) is all to aware of hers. Sam (Paul Evans) is struggling with inner frustrations and Polly (Laura Moy) is seeking liberation and freedom from the confines of her workplace existence.

All characters expressions are projected through a neat mixture of drama, comedy and choreography as acrobatic and dance skills, utilised in a scenario akin to a surreal interpretation of Fawlty Towers.

The evenings 90 memorable minutes are served with delicious meat or vegetarian menus (drinks aren’t included in the ticket price) making Façade a dining experience you’ll never forget. It continues at The Riverfront until Saturday evening – don’t miss it!
