A NIGHT for those looking for a Trojan Records throwback.

The gig, held at The Globe, in Cardiff, on Friday, started at 8pm - with the venue quickly filling up as the DJ played some classic Ska.

From the beginning of the night, there were people dancing to well-known songs such as Skinhead Girl54-46 That’s my number, 007 Shanty Town or Train to Skaville.

In a beautiful venue split into two levels, one of the defining features of the night was its varied audience. It ranged from people in their twenties to their sixties, who had been brought together for a night of Ska, Reggae and Rocksteady.

The DJ set was followed by a performance by Pama International - who, in 2006, were the first new act in 30 years to sign to Trojan Records.

Playing their own songs, the band got the crowd on their feet. What is more, it felt as if the band members themselves were joining the party.

The lead singer was excellent, as were the rest of the band. The lead singer’s voice complemented perfectly with that of the drummer’s.

As Trojan approaches its 50th anniversary, it continues to only present the very best of music. The night was the perfect taster ahead of the London International Ska Festival next month.
