Taking Flight Theatre Company has yet again managed to make Shakespeare accessible to all in their brilliant new production of Twelfth Night. The talented cast made up of disabled, sensory impaired and non disabled actors bring energy and life to the challenging text, making it understandable both through their delivery and by supporting it with British Sign Language.

I’m sure when the audience arrived to watch Shakespeare in the amphitheatre not all expected to be taken on a fun promenade journey through the ancient ruins. The cast soon removed the moans and groans and kept the audience engaged using humour as they travelled through the story together. The cast worked fantastically together and clearly enjoyed the performance. Anja Conti gave a wonderful performance as the gender swapping Viola, and her and Beth House as the love struck Olivia worked excellently together. Throughout the show the over the top characters, especially French Antonio by Samuel Bees, and tricked Malvolio by Stephen Hickman, kept the crowd in fits of laughter, with one of two having to wipe away their tears! This is a brilliant production, and very easy to follow. The characters are clear and the actors make the text understandable to all. This is easily one of the best productions of Twelfth Night I’ve seen, and defiantly the funniest. Taking Flight is a brilliant company that works hard to break boundaries and is well worth your support!
