Rihanna has never been afraid of a daring red carpet ensemble but she took an entirely different approach for the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas.

Her on-stage outfit for her performance of Love On The Brain was equally baffling, with the singer sporting smart, pressed trousers and a bright green fur stole.

Ariana Grande also opted for an odd dress, choosing a blue print gown with cut-out panels, teamed with her signature high ponytail.

Halsey was another starlet who didn’t shy away from cut-outs, sporting this strange gown with tattoo-baring slits.

Demi Lovato got Rihanna’s memo to keep things business-like, teaming her wide leg trousers with a tweed suit jacket and a sheer lace vest that flashed her bra, as well as black leather gloves with purple fingertips.

Slightly less business-like was singer-songwriter Z LaLa, who donned a large crinoline and huge headpiece for the red carpet.
