Variety lives at the Blackwood Miners’ Institute


VARIETY Lives! comes to Blackwood Miners’ Institute for the first time a week on Saturday, June 20 at 7.30pm.

This evening of comedy and music features four acts ranging from stand up and character comedy to a singer songwriter and a jazz vocalist. Steve Gribbin is a satirist and songwriter who has been propelling polemical potshots since the years of Thatcher v Scargill.

A regular member of the highly acclaimed weekly topical show at The Comedy Store in London called The Cutting Edge, he has written over 400 original comedy songs.

Andi Osho is a a rising star of the London stand-up comedy circuit.

She won the 2007 Nivea national 'Funny Women' Award and has received plaudits for her role as co-host of Channel 4 TV's daily topical show 'Tonightly'.

Barbara Nice is said to be a top comedian who tours the country on behalf of the opinionated suburban housewives of Stockport.

You may have seen her cameo parts in Peter Kay's Channel Four TV hit series 'Phoenix Nights' and 'Max & Paddy's Road to Nowhere'.

Last but not least is Ian Shaw, one of the UK's finest male jazz vocalists.

Voted BBC 'Best Jazz Vocalist' in 2004 and 2007, his choice of material ranges from Joni Mitchell songs to standards and contemporary classics.
