IF you're after quality food at a rock bottom price then look no further than this charming pub.

I ventured in on a Sunday afternoon and the smells that filled the pub from the kitchen were enough to tempt me into ordering the Sunday roast.

I started with the tomato and vegetable soup - a delicious tasting broth full of chunky vegetables.

And - get this - served at the right temperature. Most places over-heat but the chef at the Star obviously knows his stuff.

I went for the roast beef for my main course.

Tender pieces of beef served with roast potatoes, cabbage, carrots and peas.

A special mention must go to the Yorkshire pudding - just like mum used to make.

Add the tasty gravy and you have all the ingredients for a top notch Sunday dinner.

Now here's the best bit - with my partner ordering the same and with a pint of lager and a soft drink the bill came in just under £20.

Now that's a real bargain for a good-quality, tasty roast.

Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

I went there just before it was being refurbished, and I have to say, it was one of the worst meals I have ever tasted... sounds like they may have replaced the chef...pheeew!!

Yep, I've heard wonders about the new chef since the refurb!
