On Bridge Street near the city centre you'll find a quaint little restaurant called Gemelli's and, if you're a fan of Italian food, you'll be hard pushed to find a better place to eat in Newport.
To start I went for the Cozze - mussels with a fresh garlic and tomato sauce - while my wife opted for the Carciofi - grilled artichoke with mozarella and salad in a balsamic dressing.
Without prompting, we were asked if we'd like our son to have his main course the same time as our starters, which saved us having to ask.
He had the Fusilli Amatriciana - pasta in a tomato and herb sauce with bacon.
That left nothing but clean plates, and we were looking forward to our main courses.
I went for the Filetta Peperoni - a beef fillet topped with a spicy pepper and tomato sauce, which came with mashed potato, rosti potatoes and vegetables on the side. My wife went for the Risotto Funghi (mushrooms). Both were very tasty indeed.
With a few drinks thrown in for good measure, the total bill came to just over £70.
Again, perhaps not the place to go if you're on a tight budget, but based on the quality of the food, the service and the atmosphere of the restaurant, I can't complain. Superb!
