Watch the trailer here
THIS disappointing comedy about high school bullying and redemption is only saved from utter oblivion by the performance of Owen Wilson in the lead role.
He plays the eponymous Drillbit a bodyguard hired to protect high school geeks Wade (Nate Hartley), Ryan (Troy Gentile) and Emmit (David Dorfman) from the sadistic bullying of Filkins (Alex Frost) who is intent on humiliating them at every turn.
Thinking they have selected a martial arts master/soldier of fortune of some quality, Drillbit turns out to be a homeless bum who sleeps under a picnic table, showers at a beach overlooking the highway and eats out of a bin.
And Drillbit has a hidden agenda.
His real plan is to befriend the boys and burgle their houses so he can start a new life in Canada.
To be able to act as their minder, Drillbit must masquerade as a supply teacher complete with his stolen suit.
But over time he develops a soft spot for the lads and the English teacher (Leslie Mann) who he starts to fall for.
Will true love and friendship help save Drillbit from himself?
