The Motown Show at Cardiff's St David's Hall ticked all the boxes.
An appreciative audience were on their feet early on - and that is where they most determinedly stayed!
Now in its sixth year, the show promised a celebration of the music of the Motown legends and with hit after hit blasted from the stage, it certainly didn't disappoint.
The first half was devoted to the music of Diana Ross and the trademark sequins and wig were barely neededsuch was the talent of local performer, Jackie Webbe.
Early hits, Baby Love, Stop in the Name of Love, Touch Me in the Morning sat easy with the more recent Chain Reaction and Upside Down and the full extent of her vocal ability was admirably put to the test with fellow artist, Geo, in their version of Endless Love.
The tempo changed for the second half, and the hits of the now legendary Four Tops and Temptations took their turn.
Perfectly choregraphed and hugely energetic, Get Ready, Reach Out I'll Be There, Going Loco Down in Acapulco and My Girl once again touched an audience.
Backed by the Peter Brent Orchestra, this feel-good, party show demonstrates the timelessness of the Motown sound- indeed,How Sweet It Is!
