Newbridge neighbourhood policing team

INSP Ian Muirhead

Hi I am Ian Muirhead and I am the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector at Risca Police Station which covers the ward areas of Risca east, Risca West, Abercarn, Crosskeys, Newbridge, Ynysddu and Crumlin. I joined Gwent Police in 1995 when I was stationed at Bedwas. I was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2002 and moved to Risca and then to Blackwood as the Neighbourhood Sergeant. In 2008 I was promoted to the rank of inspector. Since this time I have been stationed at Brynmawr and Newport as a Neighbourhood Policing Inspector and in 2011 I was posted to Risca where I am today.

PS Andrew Massaro

Hi, I am Sgt Andy Massaro. I have been a Police Officer since January 1989. First 7 years was with the Metropolitan Police, where I was based at Notting Hill. I transferred to Gwent Police in June 1996. Whilst in Gwent I have been based at mainly within the Newport areas. Where I have performed uniformed and plan clothed duties. I have been a Neighbourhood Sergeant for the last 4 years and have been based at Risca since January 2012.

PC Karen Gifford

Hi, I am PC Karen Gifford. I have been a Police Officer for 13 years.I joined Gwent Police in 1998, Initially stationed as a response officer at Pillgwenlly Police Station where I stayed for 5 years. I then moved to Caerphilly Police Station following 2 years on response I became a Neighbourhood Officer for the Penyrheol and Trecenydd areas when I received a Civic Award for my work within the community.I have been a Crime & Disorder Reduction Officer for 6 years firstly stationed at Caerphilly, and now for the last 3 years at Risca Police Station. I am also learning Sign Language currently at level 2, which has proved to be invaluably when communicating with the hearing impaired within our community.

PC Richard Lloyd

Hi, I am Richard Lloyd and I am the Ward Officer for the Newbridge ward. I joined Gwent Police in 2001 and have previously worked in Bargoed and Blackwood as a Response Officer.

CSO Wayne Powles

Hi, I am Wayne Powles and I am the Community Support Officer for the Newbridge ward. I joined Gwent Police in 2003 and have worked in Ebbw Vale and Risca.

CSO Kramer Sloman

Hi, I am Kramer Sloman and I am the Community Support Officer (CSO) for the Newbridge ward. I joined Gwent Police in 2012 as a CSO having previously worked for the Crown Prosecution Service in Gwent. Outside of work I enjoy weight training and participating in sports such as rugby union and football. I play rugby for my local side and I am an avid supporter of Manchester United.
