CHEPSTOW Police station was just one of the places hit as the town suffered a series of mini-floods last night.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received 12 calls from the area during last night's heavy rain, including seven houses in one street which had succumbed to the rising water.
The fire service were not called to the police station, where flood-water came in through the back door.
Inspector Geoff Smith of Gwent Police said there was "minor damage" to the carpets.
It is not thought there were any prisoners at the station, and no evacuation was required.
"Officers managed to clear the excess water away and resolve the situation on site," said Insp Smith.
The station continued to be used as normal last night and again today.
The seven houses, in Hardwick Avenue, suffered minor flooding, and five other calls were from concerned residents who noticed rising water close to their homes.
