A FORMER Newport estate agency boss is taking on the role of producer in an upcoming musical which will tour the UK.
Alan Darlow, 57, is producing a new play, All the fun of the fair, which is set to hit theatres in September.
Written by Jon Conway and directed by Nikolai Foster, the story focuses on the relationships had by characters at a fairground and is set to tour around more than 30 venues across the UK between September and May.
Mr Darlow, who lives in Caerleon, is a partner in Roberts and Co. estate agents. He had previously made the career change from property to nursing homes, now he is relishing his first role in musical theatre.
"It looks as if it's going to be a great success, they've got an extremely good cast," he said.
The music will be written by David Essex, and Mr Darlow became involved in the show through a long-standing friendship with the musician, but he did not want to reveal the amount he has invested.
Mr Darlow has been involved in the project for around six months, and said he is enjoying his first experience on the other side of the stage and is anticipating the opening night.
He added: "It's great, it's something different and very interesting. It's been a very interesting ride so far, everybody is very excited about it."
The show opens in London at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley, on September 15 and is coming to Cardiff from December 1 - 6.
