AN M4 slip road is closed after a lorry carrying around 2,000 live chickens overturned.

The slip road at Junction 24 westbound from the Coldra in Newport has been shut after the accident took place at 3.30pm on Tuesday May 13.

The driver, who had to be cut out of his vehicle by fire crews, has been taken to the Royal Gwent by ambulance.

His injuries are not serious.

Police, five fire crews and a vet from the RSPCA are all in attendance.
