Neath may have done the league and cup double this season, but not all the awards from the Premiership went west.
At the annual Principality Premiership Awards presentation at the Millennium Stadium last night Dragons Academy star Jason Tovey carried off the Newcomer of the Year Award, Newport's long-serving Mike Dams won the Services to Rugby trophy and Ebbw Vale were winners for the second year running of the Referee's Fair Play Award.
For Wales Under 20 star Tovey, who played for Bedwas in the Premiership and made three appearances for the Dragons in the Magners League, it was second time lucky after missing out on the title last year when he was playing at Newport.
But this time there was no denying the teenager who made 17 starts for Bedwas in the league and who next month hopes to steer Wales Under 20 to the final of the inaugural IRB World Junior Championships on home soil.
Pontypridd's Paul John was voted Coach of the Year' and Neath skipper Lee Beach carried off the Player of the Year' crown.

Now, can we sign Tovey as a Newport RFC player for next season please?
