MUSICAL children at a Gwent school are getting ready to wow the crowds as they prepare for their annual production.

Around 30 students at Abertillery Comprehensive will take on the challenge of performing their version of The Sound of Music.

Music teacher Sam Burgess is helping to oversee the production: "The kids have all been great, they are the real stars of the show." she said.

"They have worked really hard to make this good and it is going to be of some quality."

Miss Burgess said the show was a joint venture between the school's music and drama department.

The three night stint takes place at at the school 7pm on July 14 to 16. Tickets cost £5 each and anyone wishing to attend should contact the school on 01495 217121.
