A LEADING baby and maternity retailer based in Newport is moving location in the city, safeguarding 120 jobs.

JoJo Maman Bebe’s new home at Reevesland Industrial Estate is more than double the size of its current premises.

Themove will secure 120 jobs at the 83,000 sq ft site.

It will provide new head office accommodation, and expanded warehouse and storage facilities.

Founded in 1993 by Laura Tenison, the award-winning company had a turnover of £30.4 million in the financial year ending in June.

It reported 20 per cent growth during 2011 due to store openings. There are now 50 across the British Isles, employing around 440 people.

The company is also developing its business internationally from Newport, with trade sales to 54 countries.

Jeremy Symons, director in charge of industrial properties at Cooke & Arkwright, which is leasing the new 1.7 acre site, said JoJo Maman Bebe made an approach in March 2012 and a deal was secured.

“I am very pleased to complete a transaction of this size in the current market and which demonstrates that business can still flourish with the right approach,” he said.
