PARALYMPIC gold medalist Mark Colbourne, from Tredegar, met the Queen at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.
Mr Colbourne and other Olympic and Paralympic heroes who won gold in this year’s summer of sport, were invited to the Palace to mark their achievements.
The cyclist, who won gold and two silvers at this year’s Paralympics, tweeted: “It was an amazing night and I actually met and spoke to the Queen, how cool is that.”
He added: “It was a very proud moment for me and naturally my late father would have been made up for me.” Mr Colbourne was joined at the event by athletes such as swimmer Ellie Simmonds, cyclist Jason Kenny and wheelchair racer David Weir.
The Prime Minister David Cameron, Lord Coe, and members of the Royal Family including the Duke of Edinburgh and the Duchess of Cambridge also attended.
