TWO GIRLS are giving their hair the chop to raise funds for a charity which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer.

Kiah Procter, 10, took part in Tesco Risca’s bid to raise money for Stand Up to Cancer, which is funding research into the disease.

The Cwmcarn Primary School pupil is giving her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs for children affected by cancer.

The event on October 19 raised £190.

A further £494 was collected by members of staff having their legs waxed and customers who donated on the day.

Mum Zeita, 39, of Crosskeys, said: “It was really good and she enjoyed it.”

Mia Stinton, seven, from Cwmbran, who suffers from cerebral palsy, faces an operation of her own on November 15, but still decided to raise funds for the Little Princess Trust.

Mia will have 17-20 inches chopped off leaving her with a short bob, when she takes on the challenge at the Six in Hand pub in Croesyceiliog on November 4.

Mia’s mum, Zoe Buffin, 32, said: “When she saw a programme on TV about the Little Princess Trust she said she could see the children who had lost their hair looked quite sad and said she wanted to give some of her hair so ‘they can smile as much as me’.”
