THE condition of a boy injured when a leisure centre wall fell on him has improved nearly a week after the accident.

Daniel Morgan, 15, is today stable and on a ward, a spokeswoman for Gwent Police said.

The Rockfield teenager was injured last Tuesday while changing for a games lesson at Monmouth Leisure Centre.

Fire crews had to release the Monmouth Comprehensive pupil from a concrete block partition wall and initial reports said he suffered a leg injury.

The day after, the seriousness of his injuries became clear and he was in a critical but stable condition after being transferred to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

The Health and Safety Executive carried out investigation work following the incident.
