Caerphilly's new gritters are ready to roll

THREE new gritters worth £100,000 each will help tackle icy roads around Caerphilly borough this winter.
They will replace three older vehicles.
Tom Williams, cabinet Member responsible for highways, transportation and engineering, inspected the new vehicles recently.
He said: "We are committed to providing the best possible services to the people that we represent, and purchasing these modern gritters as a replacement for the old vehicles will allow us to do just that.
"With the best machinery the best services can be achieved, allowing all road users continued use of our highways, even in the worst weather conditions."
Each new vehicle is equipped with new computerised maps and an automatic release system, allowing drivers to follow each route more easily and reducing the distraction of the driver having to manage the spreading equipment while driving.
