A WOMAN was rescued from her car which had plunged 15 feet into a river in Machen this morning.
The silver Vauxhall Corsa left Commercial Road and drove through a metal fence, fell down a 15 feet bank into the river where the car flipped over.
The driver was taken to hospital after being rescued by firecrews with ladders and rescue lines.
Eyewitness said she was 'very lucky'.
Two fire engines, including one from Duffryn were at the scene.
In a separate incident on the same road at roughly the same time a woman was taken to hospital after the Blue Subaru she was driving was involved in a collision.
