Newport woman placed on electronic tag

A NEWPORT woman who missed probation appointments after being evicted has been electronically tagged.

Janique Angel Hicks, 31, of Windmill Square, breached a community order originally imposed in November this year for theft, by missing probation appointments on November 26 and December 3.

Hicks admitted the breach at Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court last week.

Ben Waters, mitigating, said Hicks’ partner had been jailed and this caused her to lose her accommodation.

Despite this she has overcome a drug problem and reduced her drinking to two cans a day, the court heard.

District Judge John Charles said he would add to the order an electronic tag with curfew between 9pm and 6am, for 28 days.
