IT IS that time of year again when we tell ourselves we need to make a change, so come up with our New Year's resolutions. Ben Frampton spoke to people in Gwent to find out what is going to change for them from January 1.

Ann Barton, Pill florist "My resolution is to make lots of money. We had our worst year last year so in 2013, we're going to make up for that."

Chris Buck, Abercarn guitarist "I've got an album coming out on January 8 called Postcards from Capricorn so I'd say try to make a successful career out of being a musician."

Michael Edwards, Newport butcher "I don't make resolutions because I never stick to them."

Iftekhar Haris, Newport businessman "My New Year's resolution is to stick to my New Year's resolution for a change. I've got one but I don't want to say what it is, I'll tell you in March if I've stuck to it because it takes three months to do."

Neil Maidman, chairman of Blackwood Little Theatre "The big thing for Blackwood Little Theatre is to grow a new audience and lay the foundations for the next generation audience we have."

Howard Stone, Newbridge Memo campaigner "To make sure the Memo gets finished - it's been almost ten years and I want to get it finished on time. The Institute should be done by March then the Memo Hall about one year later. I also want everyone to support us."

Ian Neale, Langstone giant vegetable gardener "I never make them because people make them and don't keep them, it's just another day and another year. We do want some sunlight though so we feel better getting up in the morning."

Mike Ryan, Newport funeral director "Hopefully give my family the same support I have given them in the past."

Liz Sullivan, Ebbw Vale founder of cancer charity In the Pink "I've always got about 30 but I want to write a book, I've got a title - How it was for Me - the story about me having breast cancer and starting a charity. I've been on about it for a while and this year I'd like to see it happen."

John Griffiths, AM for Newport East "I’m planning to run the St David’s half marathon in March. I haven’t run a half marathon for about 20 years but I do run regularly so hopefully it shouldn’t be too difficult and it would be nice to do something for charity."

Giles Davies, Torfaen councillor and Pontypool Community Councillor "My New Year’s resolution is to lose three stone and to fit back in to 34 inch waste jeans again. I will be taking part in a sponsored slim along with other councillors to raise money for the Mayor of Torfaen’s chosen charities. It’s going to be hard but it’s for great causes and I get to be skinny again."

From Twitter @jueweb "Get rid of the hubby!"
