A TEENAGE girl was taken to hospital after falling from a bridge in Cwmbran.

The 13-year-old, of Fairwater, fell from the bridge named the ‘Banana Bridge’ in Ty Gwyn Way, on Friday evening.

She was taken to hospital but her parents said she suffered from minor injuries and is now settling back in at home.

The bridge links Greenmeadow to Thornhill.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said paramedics were called to an incident at the bridge at around 7.40pm where a female patient was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital’s accident and emergency department.

Gwent police had no information on the incident.

you don't just 'fall' from a bridge like that unless it's faulty, silly kids messing around i'd guess.

Serves her right....you don't just fall off a bridge!! she was clowning around and showing off I expect, like most of the very unpleasant kids these days, so I hope a lesson is learned here.....

She discovered her mistake and found it was a bridge too far.

From the above comments i must assume you were never teenagers then.
Lets hope she recovers and her injuries are not too serious. It may be time for the argus to start restricting idiotic comments from people who seem to revel in other peoples misery.Get well soon young lady.

Clowning around and showing off... like every kid has done since the year dot. Hardly needs a moral panic. If you never fell out of a tree, into a stream or through a spectacular pile of mud after shouting "Watch this!", you didn't have a proper childhood.

Even a famous carpenter from Nazareth had a spot of youthful bother from Mum and Dad when he snuck off to show off his learning in the temple. The elders were said to be impressed... Mary and Joseph, less so. *And* he gave Joseph cheek about it, when they told him off.

At last a voice of reason, well said, there are far too many horrible comment`s when someone is injured or even killed.
I wonder if these people would leave such comments if it was a member of their family...I think not.
Hope you fully recover .

There is a vast difference in falling from a tree as a kid and falling from a bridge that is supposed to be a walkway, for the saftey of the users, to prevent them being hit by a car..........

From the comments on here it seems the chavtastic parents are out in force, as kids don't do no harm clowning around on a bridge, why? because the parents let them run wild and teach them nothing, as they you could fir their brains in a hazelnut shell too!

I dont know why I read the comments of this news paper, as it is full of people pointing the finger at parents and moaning about kids being kids.
All I can say is if you have children i feel sorry for them. As if they ever did or do anything wrong they would never come to you for support and advice.
very rude and un-caring comments.
From people I am rather glad I do not know, or whom I have no need to know.

So it was the child's social standing then is it? Lots of children from every walk of life like to climb on stuff and many injure themselves.Since this kid was climbing on a pedestrian bridge in a less affluent area of the country you attribute it to parenting with no real facts or information from the Argus? Read the story again and tell me exactly how much you know about this girl. Her name? Her parents names? Her families income? What they had for dinner three days ago? Nothing. All you know is she is a thirteen year old girl that fell off a bridge in Cwmbran.

"supposed to be a walkway, for the saftey of the users"

What has this to do with anything at all in this story? We all know the purpose of a pedestrian bridge. In what way was a girl falling off a bridge a danger to other people using the bridge?

"as kids don't do no harm clowning around on a bridge"

They do harm though. To themselves. By falling off things like trees.

You are a complete berk of the highest order.

What if she fell from the bridge on to a moving car? went through the windscreen and killed the passengers?

I suppose that's all right is it? as she is just a kid having a laugh?

You seem to be the type to wish harm on a 13 year old girl.

What if she fell from the bridge on to a moving car?"

I imagine she would probably lose.

Since she lives in a poor area of Cwmbran though then that must be ok to you? Got the family figured out and evaluated their worth?

"Smokingtheweed@ you get really uptight about back grounds and social standings don't you? I think you come from the gutter, and that's why your so touchy".

Another assumption that is wholly incorrect. That is your problem. you make assumptions and then believe them to be fact.

With the exception of, one presumes, the comment in which you describe this particular individual (countymad) as a "football thug".

You are a loathsome individual, your bile and baseless invective equaled only by your ignorance and stupidity.
