Two cut free from crashed car on A48 in Castleton

UPDATE: 2.34pm

THE two people trapped in their cars were freed this morning after they crashed on the A48 in Castleton.

Fire crews were called shortly before 8am after a grey Mitsubishi Colt and blue Fiat Punto collided.

The drivers of both cars were taken to the University Hospital of Wales after complaining of neck injuries.

TWO people have been trapped in the cars they were travelling in after a crash on the A48 this morning.

Fire crews were called to the incident at Castleton just before 8am after two cars crashed on the busy road linking Newport and Cardiff.

Fire engines from Duffryn in Newport and Roath in Cardiff were in attendance as well as a rescue unit from Malpas.

South Wales Fire and Rescue said one person was trapped in each of the vehicles.
