Blackwood gym can get the whole family fit

A FAMILY-run gym in Blackwood has come up with a creative initiative to try and get all the family fit in the new year.
Unique Health and Fitness has launched a range of machines and weights for kids between eight and 14 to come down and have a go on.
The plastic weights can weigh as little as a kilo and some of the machines have been downsized or have lighter weights to help avoid injury.
Richard James, part of the family which runs the gym, said: “The idea is to try and get all the family down.
“There’s not a lot in Blackwood for kids to do at the moment, apart from the rugby club and the football club, so this is somewhere safe where they can come and be active.
“A lot of people tell us they don’t have time to train because they’ve got to look after the kids but now they’ve got no excuse,” Mr James said.
