BELOW-FREEZING temperatures will hit Gwent over the next few days, but the area looks like it will avoid the snowwhich is set to hit several areas across the UK.
With rain and the possibility of sleet last night, today sees daytime temperatures of around 6C in Newport, dropping to -1C at night.
For the next few days, daytime temperatures will struggle to get above 3C in the city and 0C in Blaenau Gwent.
At night, it is expected to get as low as -4C in the Valleys and -3C in some parts Monmouthshire while the temperature will hover around -1C in Newport.
There is a snow risk in high and low ground in mid and North Wales, but the weather here is expected to be wet today followed by a mixture of sunshine and clouds for the rest of the week.
