Ex-chief of Monmouthshire council takes role with Christian charity
6:30pm Tuesday 15th January 2013 in News
A FORMER chief executive of Monmouthshire council has become a trustee of an independent Christian charity.
Colin Berg is on board at the Churches’ Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS).
Its function is to provide professional child protection advice and support across church organisations throughout the UK.
Mr Berg, appointed director of social services at Monmouthshire council in 2000, became the local authority's chief executive four years later.
He retired in 2008 to become pastor of his local church at Little Mill, Pontypool.
There, he and his wife Joy lead the youth work and he has upgraded the church’s safeguarding policy and procedures.
Trustee and Company Secretary of CCPAS David Pearson said: "We are therefore delighted to have secured the services of Colin."
