A PARADE to remember Cwmbran's Zulu War hero Private John Williams (Fielding) VC tomorrow has been cancelled due to the snow.
The annual remembrance event, organised by Cwmbran and District Ex-Service Association, will not take place for safety reasons.
Ex-servicemen were due to march from Abbeyfields roundabout at 10.40am to St Michael and All Angels Church in Llantarnam, where Pte Williams is buried, for a service at 11am.
The parade has been running for 17 years and this year's parade would have marked the 134th anniversary of the 1879 Battle at Rorke's Drift for which Private John Fielding from Ty Coch, Cwmbran, served as Pte John Williams and received the Victoria Cross after defending a remote station against 4,000 Zulus.
