DESPITE the travel chaos, there was plenty of fun to be had across Gwent.

Young and the young at heart took to their sledges in Chepstow, and it seems the same was true in much of Gwent as Homebase on Cardiff Road, Newport and the Mountain Warehouse in Abergavenny reported having sold out of sledges.

In Pontypool, a Stagecoach bus driver was literally chilling out on his birthday having managed to get the day off because of the snow.

Christopher Taylor celebrated his 26th birthday decked out in attire perhaps more suitable for the beach, as he enjoyed an ice cold beer in his back garden.

Mr Taylor said: "I didn’t expect to have a day off so it’s great for me as I can really enjoy my birthday.

"I decided to have a bit of a mess around in the snow as I have never had snow on my birthday before."

Over in Blackwood residents Jan and Steve Welch got into the spirit with their snow-cowboy while at the National Roman Legion Museum in Caerleon Snowvius was the museum’s emperor for the day.
