GWENT Police have appealed for information following a distraction burglary in Usk on Wednesday.

The incident happened at about 10am, when a man entered a property on Castle Street saying he needed to check the radiators. The man engaged the elderly resident in conversation while two accomplices entered the house and stole money from the kitchen area.

The men are white and the first male entering the property is believed to have been wearing a dark hat, a dark top and lighter coloured trousers.

The images provided show the men who police would like to speak to in connection with this incident. If anyone has information about this offence or recognises the men in the images, they are asked to call Gwent Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Gwent Police said people should never open the door without using their chain; never let strangers in to their property; always check identity by checking with the organisation they say they are from and if in doubt, send them to a neighbour who can check their identity.
