Website can make your money go further - Gwent AM
3:30pm Saturday 26th January 2013 in News
WEBSITE LAUNCH: Blaenau Gwent AM Alun Davies
BLAENAU Gwent AM Alun Davies is encouraging people in Gwent to use a new Welsh Government website which helps people find information about how they can make their money go further.
The website, www.moneymadeclearwales.org, was created by the Wales Cooperative Centre and gives information about a range of services to help people manage their money.
As well as giving details of financial help and guidance available across Wales, the website includes information about affordable credit and savings, news about campaigns and topical stories.
The AM said: “Some members of our communities need all the financial assistance they can get at the moment. This website will help signpost sources of financial advice and also give details of local credit unions, who are ideally placed in communities and offer an affordable alternative to other loan providers.
“Loan sharks feel no guilt about their immoral dealings even when it can lead to a life of financial ruin for some families.
“While it may be tempting to take that extra money in the short term the consequences can be dreadful. If you are struggling for financial help then Credit Unions offer a safe and easy place to turn to.”

Our money would go a lot further if we did not have to fund am's in the national assembly, chief execs of councils who earn more than the prime minister, town and city councillors who get paid more than the average wage of the people they selflessly say they want to serve ,police commissioners who the vast majority of didn't want , money wasted on multi lingual signs and forms etc etc .Hope your'e catching my drift

Awww Bless him, but then again:
What a patronising git! If AM's and Mp's experienced life in the real world, they wouldn't post such stupid comments and would maybe pull their bloody fingers out and do more to sort out how the average person is supposed to live in a society that only seems to look after shareholders, politicians and corporations through tax loopholes and the like.
I for one (like most people) have had no pay increase for six years and am expected to find ways to pay for increases in domestic bills, motoring, council / income tax and NI contributions. I no longer get family tax credits (thanks to this government) and am living hand to mouth - even though I work all the hours I can, and frequently face the threat of redundancy. Not that I am after anyones sympathy, I'm just stating facts.
Makes me sick that these politicians get to vote for pay increases for themselves, get to claim expenses for pretty much anything that they have the neck to claim for and quite often use their clout to create "jobs for the boys" They have no idea how difficult the majority of people in the UK are finding it to pay their bills and they more often than not seem to treat the electorate with absolute contempt!
Granted, money can be saved by doing a bit of research on the net, but what happens after you have made all the savings you can, and still don't earn enough to make ends meet.
Do me a favour AM Davies, start looking at the bigger picture and start doing the job you were elected to do and stop looking down your nose and patronising the average working / unemployed person!
Idiot!
