NEWPORT council’s information station has welcomed 60,000 people since it opened in January 2012, the city council said.

Located in the old Newport railway station building, the site was created by the city council and other agencies to provide an accessible, welcoming environment which gives people the opportunity to cover a range of queries and issues.

Among the groups to offer services at the centre are the Aneurin Bevan Health Board, the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, Job Centre Plus, Newport Credit Union and the Department for Work and Pensions.

Yer but its now easy for them not to see you like with the housing before you seen a housing officer now you can not get past the front desk at this new office, its just an easy way of fobbing you off.

well that's what happens to us when we go there.....

Oh dear, the Information Station.Where do we start ?A 10 minute jaunt at the Civic now takes an hour in this dump.Staff, some good , some rude.I heard an employee rip into someone who couldn't afford their council tax in front of everyone. He was shouting out " pay your Council Tax and you won't get letters". She said she couldn't afford it .Everyone could hear it and I felt for the lady.
The place is a joke as one of the designers told me before it even opened.

How did the council manage to fund this edifice, when we are supposed to have shortfalls of money for just about everything else. What was the civic centre for.
