River Severn search launched for missing person

AN EXTENSIVE search of the River Severn was carried out yesterday evening for a missing person.

Police officers, SARA, RAF helicopters and Swansea Coastguard were involved in the operation, following reports a man had jumped from the Second Severn Crossing at around 5.25pm.

Gwent Police said enquiries are continuing to locate a 36-year-old man from the Birmingham area.

Mervyn Fleming, Severn Area Rescue Association's area commander west, said SARA lifeboats 1 and 3 were deployed to look for the man under the bridge, but nothing was found.

he he is found safe our friend has been missing over 5 weeks ,and took the police and press nearly 2 weeks before anything was done you are lucky they acted quicker for your family ,lets hope they find both victims kyles family are desperate for news on the 24 yr old son

Our relative is still not found. We got the whole community involved and they gather in a centre in birmingham to show thier support to the family. Its really painfull. I wish good luck to the rest who are missing and we can feel thier pain too.
