King George V building 'ideal' for Caldicot community site - ex-mayor

CALDICOT is in need of a multi-use central facility for residents to use, its former mayor says.

Cllr Maria Stevens has proposed that a compound on the King George V playing-fields could be the right location for it.

She put the idea to the town council at its most recent meeting, suggesting the site could house an advice service, tutorials, job club, tourist information, help, support and counselling, among others.

Cllr Stevens said: “The view is the compound is an asset to the town.

“I wonder what that building is going to look like in ten years if we don’t do something with it.”

The town council, trustees of the land, is going to contact Fields in Trust to discuss the plans.

The charity is dedicated to protecting and improving outdoor space for sport, play and recreation.
