A NEWPORT man was devastated to return home from holiday to find thieves had “ransacked”

his home, taking £5,000 worth of his belongings and killing his pet budgie.

Shabir Hussain, 28, returned to Trinity Place, Pill, on Tuesday to find his flat ransacked and items such as a television, Playstation, camera and laptop taken.

The burglars had also taken his pet budgie, Bluey, out of its cage and left it dead on the floor.

Mr Hussain said: “It was very disturbing and I was really emotional after finding it. They had ransacked the whole place and it was in such a mess, I have barely managed to tidy it.

“It looks like they just kicked the door in. It was terrible what they did to Bluey as well, as we had her for six months and she was a loved pet.”

Mr Hussain had been enjoying a trip to Istanbul with his wife – but, on Sunday his sister phoned him to say she had driven past and noticed his front door had been smashed in.

She had secured the property and notified police, but the news ruined the rest of Mr Hussain’s trip.

Mr Hussain has not got insurance on his property and, as well as the lost items, says he will have to pay for a replacement door.

While he buried Bluey in the garden, the bird lover has been consoled through the difficult time, with his mother giving him her two budgies – Tuffy and Yella.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said they received a call on Sunday evening reporting a property had been broken into with a Playstation, laptop and television taken.

Call 101 with information.

What vile, obnoxious excuses for human beings! I hope that what they did to that poor, beautiful defenceless bird comes back on them. I'm very sorry to hear of Mr. Hussain's awful experience and for the sadness he must feel over the loss of a cherished pet. I've never had a pet bird but I would be devastated to think that such a harmless creature died horribly so, needlessly and through such gratuitous cruelty just to satisfy the inadequacies of a bunch of losers whom this planet would be better off without.

Well said, I hope they get what they deserve, some people have no morals at all.

It's a disgrace, I hope he recovers his goods.

Killing a pet is disgusting!!!

They are unable to function at a normal psychological level.
They appear anxious, easily irritated, cannot settle and have difficulty with everyday relationships!
They will not last long, they are compelled to boast to their mates what they have done, which will b there undoing!
Its only a matter of time!

A nice amateur analysis of someone (I presume) you don't know from a few lines in a local rag article, i am impressed with your psychoanalysis skills (unlike your ability to spell). Now, either get a job where your skills are used to their full ability (maybe as a psychic) or leave the analysis to the professionals. Numpty.

"leave the analysis to the professionals"

Oh, so you know them then!

Do you honestly think they "operate" on a normal psychological level!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm........
