GOLFING legend Colin Montgomerie and five time gold medallist Steve Redgrave are among the stars to take part in the first Celebrity Cup at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport.

Mr Montgomerie will captain a celebrity team including, Gethin Jones, model Jodie Kidd, Rob Brydon, Gavin Hastings, Kenny Dalglish and Boyzone member Keith Duffy with more big names to be revealed over the coming weeks.

The teams will compete for England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales in the four nations tournament at the Celtic Manor Resort.

Mr Montgomerie, who led Europe to their Ryder Cup victory in 2010, said: "These guys are really up for the challenge and it's shaping up to be a highly competitive but fun-packed tournament."

The new Celebrity Cup forms part of Golf Live, an interactive golf show where visitors can see top players in action and enjoy skills sessions with leading coaches.

The event, which includes a gala dinner, takes place between May 10 and 12. All proceeds raised will go towards the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation.
