STAFF and customers at a pub are joining forces to raise funds to buy a specialist tricycle for a disabled boy.
A number of fundraising events are being held at Cwmbran’s Waterloo Inn to raise money in aid of five-year-old Lukus Morton, of Cwmbran.
Lukus was born with suspected mitochondrial disorder but his condition is still being diagnosed.
The condition affects his muscles and means he has to use a walking frame and wheelchair and means he wears splints. He also undergoes physio sessions to help him with his movement.
The new tricycle will allow him to use his hands to cycle meaning he will be able to get out and play with siblings Leo, four, and Kiara, one.
His mum, Claire Broad, 24, said: “It is really sweet what the pub is doing.”
Landlady at the pub, Vicky Augustus has planned events at the pub after a request to help from one of her customers John Williams.
Events have included a pool tournament yesterday while a disco, raffle and karaoke will be held tonight from 7pm and will include events such as waxing and an eating competition.
A children’s disco will be held on Sunday from 3pm to 6pm. Entry is £2 per child.
On February 20, a psychic will be at the pub from 7pm.
Mrs Augustus said they hoped to raise £675 to buy the tricycle but further donations would be used to buy a treat for Lukus’ siblings.
