Trevethin man charged with robbing Pontnewydd store

A 32-YEAR-old man held by police on suspicion of robbing a Pontnewydd off licence has appeared in court charged with robbery.
Aaron Butcher, of Winstone Road, Trevethin, was in Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was charged with the offence.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Newport Crown Court later this week.
Butcher was arrested by police last Friday on suspicion of robbing Richmond Wines, run by Yoghesh and Sunita Parekh, on Richmond Road, Pontnewydd, at around 5pm on Wednesday.
A 42-year-old man from Cwmbran was also arrested on Friday, but has since been released without charge.
