Parents asked to take kids home as sickness bug hits Chepstow school

A spokesman for Monmouthshire council said they have had no reports from other schools of sickness bugs.

Parents of Dell Primary pupils were asked to collect their children from the school this afternoon in the wake of a sickness bug which has swept the school.
They were also told the school will be deep-cleaned tonight "to eradictae any bugs...from today's high sickness levels."
This is the full text sent by the school:
"Following the high level of sickness among pupils and staff today, we are asking any parents who are able to please come to the school to collect their child. The school will be deep cleaned this evening and tomorrow to eradicate any bugs that might be present following today's high sickness levels. At present we anticipate openineg the school tomorrow (Friday) at 10am allowing for additional time for deep cleaning with appropriate materials.
"If your child has vomited or had diarrohea they must stay away from school for 48 hours to avoid cross-contamination. Please check Twittera nd website for updates."
A spokesman for Monmouthshire council said: "They've had no reports from other schools of sickness bugs."
UPDATE: 12.27pm
OVER a quarter of pupils at the Dell School in Chepstow are now off with an unidentified bug. Of 406 pupils, 107 are off.
There is no confirmed diagnosis but an investigation by the relevant council departments is underway.

A SICKNESS bug has hit dozens of pupils at a Chepstow school.
The Dell School posted a notice on Twitter this morning saying "significant" numbers of children and some staff had been affected by a "nasty bug".
The Argus understands that up to 87 children and seven staff, including head teacher Steve King, are off ill today.
The school issued advice to parents via its twitter feed asking all children with symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea to stay away from the school for 48 hours in line with public health authority guidelines.
