Newport fishing boat rescued after engine failure

A NEWPORT fishing boat was rescued off the Gower coast on Saturday after experiencing engine trouble.
The Sarah Rae, owned by Brian Chambers, of Caerleon, left Burry Port around 5pm on Saturday for an evening’s fishing in Rhossili Bay.
But around 7.30pm he and another person onboard called Swansea Coastguard for assistance after suffering engine problems near Burry Holms.
Volunteers at Burry Port's RNLI station launched the Atlantic 75 recovery vessel and towed the Sarah Rae to safety around 7.40 pm.
But the seven-metre fishing boat was unable to enter the Burry Port marina and the casualty vessel had to be moored onto a buoy at the entrance to be recovered on Sunday morning.
Mr Chambers praised the team for their help.
He said: "The response of the boys was phenomenal, their professionalism second to none. The RNLI should be well supported as you save lives and take some of the worry out of boating. Just knowing you are there adds a feeling of security."
