A WOMAN had a bag carrying a large amount of cash stolen from her on a Markham street on Monday.

Gwent Police said the woman was walking along Abernant Road, carrying takings from the Markham Miners Institute in a carrier bag when she was approached from behind by a man. He ran up to her and snatched the bag from her hand before running off.

The woman was not injured.

The offender is around 5’10" tall and was wearing a black hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.
