CREATIVE pupils were praised by staff after making detailed models of dragons and castles to celebrate St David’s Day.

Children at Gaer Junior, in Gaer Road, Newport, created the 2ft models in the lead-up to the national celebrations as part of a half-term project.

School support officer Natascha Rogers said yesterday: “The models are lovely. One has got a banquet table with a light on and another a sparkly checked floor. They really thought about it.”

The 174-pupil school is among those celebrating St David’s Day today. Send us your pictures of your youngsters in national costume.
